President's Graduate Fellowship

14 May 2019: Devamanyu Hazarika, PhD student in our research group, has been selected to receive the NUS President's Graduate Fellowship (PGF)! The PGF is awarded to PhD candidates who show exceptional promise or accomplishment in research. A number of PhD candidates are selected each semester by NUS for the award. Congratulations!

 

1st PCL International Young Scientists Forum

31 March 2019: Dilruk Dasantha Perera, a PhD student in our research group, was selected to attend the 1st Peng Cheng Laboratory (PCL) Forum for International Young Scientists, in Shenzhen. The event included 30 oral presentations by overseas students and a poster session with 30 posters. Additionally there were speakers from various Chinese universities and a keynote speech by Turing award winner Prof. John E. Hopcroft. Congratulations!

7th Heidelberg Laureate Forum 2019

18 April 2019: Abdelhak Bentaleb, a PhD student in our research group, was selected for the 7th Heidelberg Laureate Forum 2019. He is among the 200 young researchers across the world who will have an opportunity to meet laureates of CS and Mathematics, i.e., ACM A. M. Turing Award, Abel Prize, Fields Medal and Rolf Nevanlinna Prize winners. Congratulations!

New MOE Tier 1 Grant Approved

1 March 2019: Our lab has launched a new research project entitled "Learning Multimodal Deep Features for Weakly Labelled Sound Event Detection." This research is supported by Singapore Ministry of Education Academic Research Fund Tier 1 under MOE's official grant number T1 251RES1820.

Best Student Poster at AAAI 2019

1 February 2019: The team of Raghav Kapoor, Yaman Kumar, Kshitij Rajput, Rajiv Ratn Shah, Ponnuvangam Kumaruguru and Roger Zimmermann received the Best Student Poster at the Thirty-Third AAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence (AAAI 2019) for their work entitled "Mind Your Language: Abuse and Offence Detection for Code-Switched Languages."
